Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is performing maintenance to its 60,000-volt transmission line serving the Whitmore substation and will use a generator to keep the community powered while the line is de-energized for worker safety.

PG&E customers in Whitmore will experience a brief power outage when technicians disconnect the utility-scale generator at the Whitmore substation and restore transmission line power to the community. The five-minute outage is scheduled to occur sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6.

By using a generator, PG&E avoids an eight-hour power outage for its 540 customers in Whitmore.
