A Redding woman was arrested after stealing a construction truck from a construction site in the area of Placer Street and Buenaventura Boulevard.
On October 10, 2017, at approximately 9:51 P.M., officers were dispatched to the listed area regarding a possible carjacking that just occurred. The reporting party, an employee with Axner Construction, advised that a female got into a running construction truck near the intersection. Another employee intervened and attempted to get her out of the vehicle, but she drove off at a high rate of speed. The employee was slightly injured as a result of falling from the truck as the suspect drove away.
Officer Duval located the abandoned truck just west of the city limits. Officer Tracy arrived on scene and a started a K-9 track with his partner, Nord. The suspect, Alice Kelsey (age 46) was located in a nearby field, just as a resident in the area called to report a female prowler. Kelsey resisted and kicked Officer Duval several times during the arrest process. She was eventually booked into the Shasta County Jail for carjacking, assault on an officer, and resisting arrest.
