On Sunday, November 17th, 2019 at approximately 1:40 PM, deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, City of Shasta Lake Division, contacted Myles Winkler, 37 years from Redding, in the area of 3440 Shasta Dam Blvd. During the contact, deputies learned Myles had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest for 236 PC, False Imprisonment and was currently featured as one Shasta County’s Most Wanted. Additionally, Myles was on active Felony probation for 245(a)(4) PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon. When deputies attempted to detain Myles, he pulled away and fled from deputies on foot into a wooded area. Deputies set a perimeter and began to search the area for Myles. K-9 “Thor” tracked and located Myles concealing himself under thick brush down a steep hillside.
Announcements were given for Myles to reveal himself and show his hands. Myles refused comply with commands and with the assistance of K-9 Thor, deputies were able to detain Myles and safely take him into custody.
Myles was transported to the hospital where he was treated for injuries he sustained during the struggle with Thor. Thor was not seriously injured during the apprehension. After being treated at the hospital, Myles was transported to the Shasta County Jail where he was booked for: his outstanding felony warrant, violating the terms of his probation, and resisting arrest/ Obstructing a Peace Officer 148 PC.
