On Thursday, November 29th, 2018, at approximately 2100 hours, Deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office City of Shasta Lake Patrol Station responded to 1997 Cascade Boulevard space 15, Millers Mobile Home Park, for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a white female adult, later identified as Confidential Victim.  The Confidential Victim had obvious visible injuries and informed Deputies her husband Jonathan Romo, 28 years old, had physically assaulted her.  Based on the Confidential Victim’s injuries and statement, it was determined Romo was in violation of felony corporal injury to a spouse and assault with a deadly weapon.

While Deputies were contacting the Confidential Victim, Romo began yelling from the residence.  Deputies responded to the residence and contacted Romo from outside his residence.  Romo failed to comply with Deputies commands to exit the residence.  Romo eventually ran out of view inside his residence.  To prevent a potential deadly force encounter, K-9 “Hondo” was utilized and deployed into the residence and successfully apprehended Romo. During the apprehension, Romo assaulted K-9 Hondo by kicking him.  K-9 Hondo was not injured as a result of the assault.

Romo was arrested for 273.5(a) PC- Felony corporal injury to a spouse, 245(a)(1) PC- Assault with a deadly weapon, 148(a)(1) PC- Resisting arrest, and 600(a) PC- Harming a police K-9.
