On Friday, November 15th, 2019, at 7:50 P.M., Redding Police Officer Provencio conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle within the parking lot of Dairy Queen in Redding for expired registration and an unreadable license plate. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Matthew Watson (30 years of Redding) and the passenger as Charlie Patterson (25 years of Redding).
After an investigation, Watson was arrested for driving under the influence of a drug and illegal operation of a motor vehicle as a narcotic addict. During a search of the vehicle for evidence of these crimes, Officer Provencio located 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, brass knuckles, miscellaneous tools, mail and checks stolen from the Puerto Vallarta business in Redding and over $3,000.00 in cash.
An employee of the Puerto Vallarta restaurant was contacted and confirmed the mail, checks and some tools located in the vehicle were stolen during a recent burglary at the business, located at 2315 Eureka Way in Redding, on November 8th, 2019.
Matthew Watson was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for driving under the influence of a drug, a drug addict operating a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of brass knuckles, possession of stolen property and violation of the terms of his probation as he is on Shasta County Probation for possession of stolen property. Charlie Patterson was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for possession of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property.
The various tools and cash were seized as evidence as they are suspected of being stolen or are proceeds of stolen property.
