On November 1, 2018 at 8:21 pm, Officers responded to the 1400 block of Riverside Dr, for a report of a subject who was brandishing a knife.


When officers arrived, they contacted Greg Reimann, 62 years of Redding, and Paul Young, 68 years of Redding.  Reimann said prior to the Redding Police Department arriving, he and Young confronted a male subject trespassing in his front yard.  Reimann said the subject was cutting and removing bamboo from his property.  Reimann said when he attempted to speak with the subject; he became argumentative and brandished a knife.  Reimann said he started to retreat back into his residence but the subject followed and attempted to stab him in the neck.  Reimann said the subject also brandished the knife and threatened Young, before leaving on foot.

Officers began checking the downtown area for the subject.  Officers located William Bailey, 28 years of Redding, in the area of California St. and Trinity St.  Bailey was positively identified by Reimann and Young.

Bailey was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for brandishing a knife, assault with a deadly weapon, and making criminal threats.
