By Wil Keepers,

The Redding Christian Lions won by forfeit Monday over Hamilton City, but still did not have a victory on the field.  But that changed Tuesday afternoon when they defeated Durham at the Redding Soccer Park for a 4-0 victory.

The Lions got a goal six minutes into the game from Tyler Putnam, assisted by Will Snider.  That 1-0 Lions lead stayed in place through almost an hour, as the Lions stepped up the defense, and put pressure in the Trojans’ defense throughout the game.  Goalie Ryne Luaces, got just five saves because the defense of Sam Chiu and Audrey Steffen stepped up to such a great degree.  He has 423 total saves this season, with two games remaining.  After several close attempts, Tyler Putnam got a second goal for the Lions at the 60 minute mark, again assisted by Will Snider.  Once the lead got to 2-0, the Trojans were pushing to try and return a score, and their defense got a little looser as they took more chances, and the Lions got two more goals in the last quarter of the game, as Elijah Iverson scored at the 66 minute mark and Will Snider scored at the 74 minute mark.

On Wednesday, the Lions lost 4-0 to Colusa, much closer than the 7-0 score in the earlier game against this team.  The Lions now have a record of 2-15-1 with one game to go in the season Thursday afternoon vs. Williams.
