On October 16, 2017 at 11:16 a.m., an employee from the Redding Bank of Commerce, at 1177 Placer St. called 911 to report they had just been robbed. The victim bank teller stated the suspect presented a note to her and demanded money. The victim teller gave a very detailed description of the suspect to SHASCOM who relayed the information to responding officers. While conducting a search in the area, Redding Police Chief Roger Moore located the suspect walking in the 900 block of South St. Chief Moore along with other responding officers took the suspect into custody.
Redding Police Department Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation with assistance from patrol officers. The suspect was identified as Hom Lotakoon, 48 years of Redding. Lotakoon is a local transient who is on active parole for arson. He was transported to the Redding Police Department Investigations Division where he was interviewed. Lotakoon admitted to robbing the bank and demanding the money.
Lotakoon was transported to the Shasta County Jail where he was booked for robbery and a parole violation.
