On Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at 7:25 p.m. deputies with the City of Shasta Lake Patrol Division, responded to the 1900 block of Cabello Street regarding a traffic collision involving three vehicles. Numerous 911 calls were received advising three occupants of the primarily involved vehicle fled on foot from the scene of the collision.
Once on scene and after speaking to witnesses, deputies learned the unknown driver of a red Nissan Altima was observed in the area driving at an extremely high rate of speed. Near the intersection of La Mesa Avenue and Cabello Street, the driver of the red Nissan Altima lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a curb where it became airborne and landed upright in the bed of a pickup truck parked in the driveway of a residence. The force of the impact caused the pickup to slide sideways, striking another vehicle and narrowly avoiding a collision with the residence.
All occupants of the Red Nissan Altima exited and fled on foot. A search of the surrounding area met with negative results and the identity of the driver and occupants are unknown at this time. The suspect vehicle is a red, 2005 Nissan Altima with Connecticut license plates. No innocent bystanders were injured in this incident. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver of this vehicle is encouraged to contact the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Shasta Lake City Station at (530)245-6040.
