On March 2, 2019, at approximately 8:48 p.m., Redding Police Officers received several calls for service regarding a nude man walking on Lake Boulevard. While officers were enroute they received additional reports that the nude male was fighting with citizens in the area. The male was later identified as Dustin William Clemens, 39 years old, of Redding.

Upon arrival, with the assistance of bystanders, officers were able to locate Clemens. Clemens failed to follow officers’ directives, took a fighting stance and challenged them to fight. Officers had to use their batons and pepper spray to control Clemens. After Clemens was placed in custody, officers noted Clemens was demonstrating symptoms of being under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant. Clemens has a long history of local arrest including illegally possessing a firearm, domestic violence, vandalism and battery. In addition, Clemens is on probation for California Penal Code 69 (violently resisting an executive order).

As a result of the confrontation, officers were exposed to Clemens’ feces.  One officer sustained an injury and had to receive medical attention at a hospital. Clemens was transported to a hospital for medical clearance and booked into the Shasta County Jail for public intoxication, resisting arrest and a probation violation.
