Power to Seniors Soup Kitchen Nov. 2, 2017
4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Veterans’ Hall, 1605 Yuba Street, Redding
There is a lot to celebrate in the North State these days – the weather is cooling off, the rain is back and the Power to Seniors Soup Kitchen is next week. On Nov. 2, 2017, you can join an estimated 400 Shasta County residents who will enjoy a fabulous evening filled with all-you-can-eat gourmet soups, a live band and a chance to win great raffle baskets – all in support of local seniors in need.
The 16th annual Power to Seniors Soup Kitchen will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Veterans’ Hall, 1605 Yuba Street, Redding. Sponsored by the Older Adult Policy Council, the Soup Kitchen helps raise money for low-income seniors who are having difficulty paying their energy bills.
Since the program began in 2001, Power to Seniors has raised more than $405,000 and has helped more than 1,000 seniors keep their electricity on and their homes warm.
“It’s a fun event for the whole family,” said Colleen Nelson, event coordinator. “Whether you come for the food, the music or to visit with friends, it’s a great night for a good cause.”
In addition to the proceeds from the Soup Kitchen, Redding Electric Utility will also be present to accept donations for low-income seniors through their SHARE Program.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids ages 3 to 12 and are available at the door. Find more about Power to Seniors on Facebook or call (530) 232-5543.
