The Historic Hawes Farms located at 21923 Dersch Road in Anderson officially opens its 2017 fall season this weekend, Sept. 30 going through Oct. 31. This year’s Hawes Farms’ corn labyrinth theme is saying “No More” to Domestic Abuse. The opening weekend will be a benefit for Homes of Hope for VIDA. (www.homesofhopeforvida.org)
Sept. 30 & Oct. 1- THEME – FARM SPORTS —Opening day on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., the benefit day includes— enjoying the farm, BBQ dinner from Kent’s Meats, and fresh watermelon or Texas Sheet Cake for dessert, guest speaker, and dancing. WNBA star Ruthie Bolton will speak how she overcame the toughest battle of her life, and it was not on the basketball court. Once Ruthie is done speaking at 8:00 pm there will be time for book signings and autographs, campfires, and Dancin’ Under the Stars with the band JINX until 10:00 p.m. Haunts is closed this weekend. (100% of ticket cost benefits Homes of Hope For VIDA— $35 Includes dinner and Cruisin’ General Admission to the farm; $15 – Includes dinner and admittance for those already at the farm who want to stay.)
Oct. 7&8 – THEME-FRIGHTFEST— All attractions open. Wear a costume on Saturday or Sunday and save $2 on daytime admission. Haunts are open. Dancin’ Under the Stars band is JINX.
Oct. 14&15 – THEME-2nd ANNUAL TASTE OF MAIZE — All attractions are open; special event Taste of Maize on Oct. 14 from 2pm – 6pm. No better way to experience their daytime maze. Enjoy unlimited samples of local farm food and drink favorites as you take a relaxing stroll in their daytime maze. $39.95 admission for this event includes Jumpin’, general admission to the farm; souvenir Historic Hawes Farms beer mug or wine glass, unlimited beverage and food sampling in daytime corn maze. Haunts are open. Dancin’ Under the Stars band is Squaredance.

THURSDAY FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Don’t want to fight crowds? Thursday is FAMILY NIGHT FUN NIGHT from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Visit the farm on any of their four family nights with activities that include: Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze, Silver Spur Roller Coaster, Zip Line, Ole Jumpin’ Jake, Spider Web, Apple Checkers, Pumpkin Bowling, Fast Pitch Alley, Halloween Hoops, Volley Ball, Pumpkin Teeter Ball, Lil’ Mavericks Barnyard & Livery Stable, Tricycles, Swings & Slides, Jumbo Train & Tractor, Corn Box, Rubber Duck Races, Towering Goat Walk. Hawes Farms Express Railroad, and Grain Train. (Tractor & Train closes at 7:00 p.m.)
