On Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 2:25 a.m., deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and officers with Anderson Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence located in the 3400 block of El Camino Drive, Cottonwood, CA. While en route to the location, deputies learned the female suspect left the area on foot.
Upon arrival, deputies observed an adult female, covered in blood, later identified as Tjiyana Sory, walking from the residence. Sory was contacted and was detained without incident.
The Confidential male victim was located at the residence and subsequently transported to Mercy Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries he received during the incident.
During the investigation, it was learned Sory and the victim were married and were at the El Camino Drive address attending a social gathering. During the social gathering, both Sory and the victim were drinking alcoholic beverages and became involved in a verbal disagreement, which escalated. At some point during the argument, Sory retrieved two steak knives and stabbed the victim multiple times in the shoulder. Witnesses on scene were able to separate the two parties before Sory left the location on foot.
Sory was transported to the Shasta County Jail and booked for 273.5 (a) PC- Domestic Violence- and 245(a)(1) PC- Assault with a deadly weapon.
