On May 20, 2016, Cal Fire responded to a vegetation fire that started as a result of an escape debris burn overnight in the Buffalo and Aoudad Drives area of Millville. The incident fire name is called the Buffalo Fire and is 100% contained. Windy conditions caused the fire to spread quickly burning 10 acres, destroying a barbecue, generator and well. Light rain is currently being experienced over the area. No structures were destroyed. Dollar damage estimated at $1,000.
Resources assigned to Buffalo Fire were four engine companies, three water tenders, one fire crew, two overhead personnel, and one bulldozer.
