On Friday, February 9, 2018, at 6:51 p.m., Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 16000 block of Dot Lane, Anderson, regarding a shots fired call. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted Angela Rollins, who lives in the area. Rollins reported, prior to deputies arriving, she was outside her residence with her husband and three children, ages ranging from 8 to 10 years old. While standing in the front yard a neighbor, identified as 84-year-old Betty Frances Sanders and Sanders’ husband approached the fence, which separates the two properties. Sanders and her husband became upset due to Rollins’ children riding motorcycles and being noisy. An argument ensued, and Sanders shot one round from a handgun toward Rollins and her family who were about 20 feet away.
Deputies ultimately contacted Sanders at her residence, located at 16849 Dot Lane, Anderson. Sanders was interviewed and a handgun was located. Sanders was arrested for 245(a)(2) PC – Assault with a firearm and 273a(a) PC – Child Endangerment. Sanders was transported to the Shasta County Jail where she was booked into custody. Bail is set at $50,000, and no one was injured during the incident.
