Firefighters continue to battle the lightning-caused Berry Fire and make steady progress in the Burney community that started on Sept. 12. As of 6:58 a.m. 575 acres have burned with 20% contained.
Steep inaccessible terrain is requiring some crews and supplies to be flown in by helicopter and there is extensive travel by ground to the scene. Direct and indirect handline is being built where possible. The fire continues to burn actively with some spotting and slop overs occurring within projected control objectives. No evacuations have been called, but River Road is closed from Pit 4 dam to Pit 3 Powerhouse.
