Deputies made contact with Confidential Victim who reported a male acquaintance of hers had entered her residence through an unlocked door earlier in the evening at approximately 2330 hours located in the 24000 block of Old Alturas Rd.. The acquaintance, identified as Humberto Mario Mendoza then physically assaulted her over the next several hours and at one point placed a handgun into her mouth.
The Victim was able to escape the residence at approximately 0230 hours and was able to call a friend to pick her up on the road. The Victim then notified law enforcement regarding the incident.
Deputies responded to the residence, established a perimeter and attempted to contact Mendoza via his cellular phone with negative results. Deputies then made a tactical entry into the Victim’s residence and subsequently located Mendoza in a rear bedroom. Mendoza was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the residence, deputies located a loaded Smith and Wesson 9MM semi-auto handgun. The handgun had a live round in the chamber and one live round in the magazine. Deputies also located multiple live 9MM rounds inside Mendoza’s pants pocket.
Mendoza was transported to the Shasta County Jail where he will be booked for 236 PC- False Imprisonment, 245(a) (2) PC- Assault with a firearm, and 422 PC-Terrorists Threats. Mendoza was also found to have 3 outstanding warrants for his arrest. Additional charges could be added on Mendoza after the preliminary investigation is completed. SCSO Case # 16-24555.
