On Wednesday January 6, 2016, agents with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Investigative Team (SMIT), Shasta County Sheriff’s Office AB109 Team, Shasta County Code Enforcement, California Department of Fish and Wildlife Wetlands Enforcement Team and California Department of Fish and Wildlife Marijuana Enforcement Team, served two consecutive search warrants on two locations where suspected illegal marijuana cultivation was occurring. One of the properties was located at a rural parcel on Crockett Lane in the Mill Creek subdivision of Oak Run, CA. The second location was on Brassie Way in the Gold Hills subdivision of Redding, CA.
At the Crockett Lane location, agents contacted and arrested without incident, Enrique Martin Saavedra, age 35, and Nicole Marie Saavedra, age 32. During the course of the search warrant, evidence supporting marijuana sales and an inactive butane honey oil lab consisting of equipment for manufacturing concentrated cannabis by chemical extraction were located and seized. Additionally, a total of 500 growing marijuana plants were located and seized from inside two large commercial greenhouses, along with 8 lbs. of processed marijuana that was packaged for sales, digital scales, and a loaded .40 cal. handgun.
At the Brassie Way location, agents consecutively served a second search warrant also connected to Enrique and Nicole Saavedra. At this location, agents seized 87 growing marijuana plants in an indoor grow, along with functional digital scales, packaging material, evidence supporting marijuana sales, and an inactive butane honey oil lab consisting of equipment for manufacturing concentrated cannabis by chemical extraction.
Enrique and Nicole Saavedra were subsequently transported and booked into the Shasta County Jail for the below listed charges.
